How to Install emacs software package in Debian 7 (Wheezy)

emacs software package provides GNU Emacs editor (metapackage), you can install in your Debian 7 (Wheezy) by running the commands given below on the terminal,

$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install emacs 

emacs is installed in your system.

Make ensure the emacs package were installed using the commands given below,

$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep emacs *

You will get with emacs package name, version, architecture and description in a table
